Dehydrated discs:- In this condition, the discs may lose their spongy nature and become dehydrated. This leads to direct contact between the bones, which triggers pain.

Bone spurs:- Degeneration of vertebrates results in deformity of bone which is called a spur.

Ayurvedic aspects of ankylosing spondylitis

All the degenerative diseases in Ayurveda are classified as Vata disease. It is the aggravation of Vata that leads to the damage of the body tissues and cells. As is the roughness of Vata, the vertebrate becomes dry and leads to ankylosing spondylitis. Vata, along with Kapha, stiffens the neck causing pain and disability.

Ayurvedic medicines aim to restore bone strength by the rehydrating process. This does not happen by applying some oils only, rather medicinal herbs also provide benefits along with Panchkarma therapy.
